Natural Disasters

By Admin on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 with 0 comments

Since life formed on earth, there have seen a number of cosmic events that  dramatically altered the course of life. Sixty-five years ago a meteorite destroyed most life on earth including the dinosaurs. A more recent and less tragic event is the earthquake in Turkey. Those and other geological events including floods, volcanos, hurricanes, tornados, drought, fire, and glaciers have threatened humans.

Human technology has not reached the level where we can protect ourselves from more serious events like the meteorite that eliminated the dinosaurs or an exploding sun. However, there are things we do to protect ourselves from less dramatic events. The Turkey tragedy is a good example. Many of the deaths could have been avoided if they had more stringent building codes and those code had been enforced.
